Three Workshops – Waukesha, Wisconsin October 29 & 30, 2022
Small Purse Workshop. Saturday 9am – 4 pm. You will learn how to make a small felted purse. Approximately 8″ x 10″. With the skills you learn from this class, you will be able to go to the moon! You will learn how to wet felt, needlefelt, landscape design and how to create a one piece vessel. (A purse in this case) Bring your imagination and ambition for a great two days of creating.
Be aware that there is a fair amount of rolling and rubbing using your arms and hands.

Small Landscape Workshop. Sunday 9 am – 12 pm. You will learn how to make a small landscape scene. Approximately 8″ x 10″. You will learn landscape design, how to wet felt and needle felt.

Free Motion Stitching on Felted Picture. Saturday 1 pm – 4 pm. Learn how to enhance your felted landscapes by using your free motion stitching on your sewing machine! I will have several pieces for you to practice on, or bring your own!

Needle Felted Art or Wool Art, is such an emerging art form and is exploding in popularity! A photograph just doesn’t capture the texture, the depth or the character of the piece, but if you have seen a landscape felted piece in person, you fell in love! Right?!! In this class you will learn everything you need to know to create a felted picture. We will experiment with different fibers and techniques so you can feel confident about your sunset/sunrise landscape
No previous experience necessary, just a willingness to learn and have fun! We will learn the basic characteristics of wool and how to turn it into felt using a wet felting and needle felting method. We will then go into the basic composition of a landscape and the particulars of laying out your design. You will get a chance to make a small pieces to experiment with the technique and color blends, and new this year, using different types of fibers like silk, llama, bamboo… lots of different stuff! Then we will move on to your approximate bigger main work of art.
I will demonstrate every step of the way what you will need to do, and supply all the materials you will need for your projects. You will be able to keep the tools that you used in class and continue your new skills at home!!
One note: This requires comfortable clothes that can get wet. Also, you will need just a little bit of strength in your arms and hands to work your wool into felt by rolling it back and forth.
